Oceanographic Engineers



Fugro GEOS Limited, based in Wallingford, Oxfordshire, is an internationally renowned Metocean services company operating worldwide in the coastal and offshore marine markets. Following continued growth, the Metocean Measurements team are seeking enthusiastic Oceanographic Engineers to support offshore operations.

The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of marine surveys including:

  • Metocean field engineering activities
  • Contribution to high HSE standards
  • Maintenance, testing and preparation of Metocean equipment
  • Deployment and recovery of Metocean equipment
  • Offshore client liaison

This position is ideally suited to experienced offshore engineers from all backgrounds who are looking for a more varied career, the projects our teams are involved in vary from very short 1-2 days to slightly longer trips ~3 weeks, with the potential to work all round the world. Our engineers are involved in a mixture of offshore vessel, drilling platform and onshore installations. As no two projects are the same, members of our team need to be resourceful and flexible and enjoy working in a fast-paced and challenging environment.

Applications are welcomed from personnel with a range of relevant experience to fulfil a variety of roles including Party Chief. Candidates should have experience of working in a marine/offshore environment in either Metocean, geophysical or geotechnical surveys, although other suitably qualified/experienced candidates will be considered. A knowledge of oceanography would be an advantage but not essential. Other attributes advantageous to the role would include a love of travel, a strong eye for detail, the ability to work both as part of a team and on their own, and a methodical approach when dealing with technical troubleshooting. The role is for offshore-based staff.

Depending on the experience of the successful applicant, time will need to be spent in Wallingford for familiarisation training.
