Party Chief / Project Manager / Senior Geophysicist



Fugro EMU's Geosurvey division provides a comprehensive suite of integrated hydrographic and geophysical survey solutions to a wide range of clients operating in the coastal and offshore marine markets worldwide. Client sectors include renewable energy, offshore aggregates, oil & gas, cables and civil engineering. The department is currently undergoing significant growth and has various openings for highly motivated individuals to join our team.

Party Chief / Project Manager, Permanent - Full Time. Based at Durley, Hampshire with a requirement to work off-site and off-shore. Salary £33,000 to £40,000 per annum plus offshore allowance and company benefits.

The ideal candidate will possess several years' experience of undertaking hydrographic and / or geophysical site surveys. A full understanding of data acquisition and processing methodologies is required. The post will be mainly offshore based; experience of undertaking party chief duties would also be highly desirable.

The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of marine surveys including:

  • Managing site surveys - mobilisation and data acquisition through to completion
  • Advising colleagues and clients on survey requirements and developing scopes of work and technical specifications
  • Party chief duties on board a variety of offshore survey vessels from 12 to 45 metres
  • Mentoring and training less experienced staff on all aspects of survey work.

Senior Geophysicist, Permanent - Full time. Based at Durley, Hampshire with a requirement to work off-site and off-shore. Salary £25,000 to £32,000 per annum plus offshore allowance and company benefits.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for the mobilisation of geophysical systems, geophysical data acquisition and QC onboard various vessels within the Fugro fleet. In addition, office based duties will include processing, interpretation and reporting of geophysical data sets at Fugro EMU's headquarters, near Southampton in the UK. Suitable candidates will be encourage to work as Party Chief aboard company vessels and have the opportunity to progress into project management roles.

  • The successful candidate will have a degree in Geophysics, Geology or a related discipline and/or a professional accreditation with a minimum of 2 years relevant industry experience.
  • Ability to spend periods of time onsite and away from home is essential in addition to office work.
  • Knowledge of analogue seismic equipment, such as boomer, pinger, sparker and air gun and magnetometer surveys is highly desirable.
  • Experience in Coda, SonarWiz, Oasis Montaj and Promax software suites is preferred but not essential.
