The research unit Marine Geosystems / research division 2 Marine Biogeochemistry is offering a

Research Scientist Position

from March 2019 onwards.

Tasks:

The successful candidate will design and implement independent research on the biogeochemical turnover at the seafloor in close cooperation within existing research groups of the research unit Marine Geosystems. Applications for third-party funding, publications in international scientific journals and participation in sea-going expeditions are expected.

Requirements:

We are looking for an outstanding early-career scientist with a Master or Diploma Degree and a PhD in natural sciences, expertise in biogeochemistry, a strong publication record, and innovative research ideas. Qualification and ability to participate in sea-going expeditions are expected.

The full-time position is offered as a three-year contract with a tenure-track option upon positive evaluation after three years. The fixed-term contract shall comply with Section 2 Paragraph 1 of The Act of Academic Fixed-Term Contract (German WissZeitVG).

Your salary follows TvöD (public service) with the accordant social benefits.
