The Dr. Moses Strauss Department of Marine Geosciences, at the Charney School of Marine Sciences, University of Haifa Israel, is looking to broaden its expertise within the scope of marine geosciences over the next few years. Currently we are seeking candidates to fill one or more tenure-track faculty positions in the following fields with emphasis on marine research: Sedimentary Petrology, Petroleum Geology, Potential Fields, Earthquake Seismology, Structural Geology, Basin Analysis, Physical Oceanography, Geobiology and Geobiochemistry, and Marine Geochemistry.
The Department was established in 2007 and is the only marine-focused, sea-going geoscience department in Israel. It presently covers the following disciplines: observational geophysics, mapping and remote sensing, geodynamics, marine and coastal sedimentology, geochemistry, geo-archaeology, natural hazards and hydro-acoustics. The successful candidates will be expected to pursue an independent scientific career while nourishing fertile collaboration with other members of the Department; to pursue external research funds; and to supervise M.Sc. and Ph.D. students. Preference will be given to candidates with sea going research experience and focus. A Ph.D. in the respective field, at least one year of postdoctoral experience and a rich publication curriculum in internationally recognized peer-reviewed journals are required.
