Research Assistant Positions - Physical OceanographyThe Physical Oceanography Division at the University of Hawaii invites applications for graduate school in pursuit of either M.S. or Ph.D. degrees. Through faculty sponsors, students have access to a wide variety of research facilities, courses, programs and equipment. World-class facilities accessible for research include two ocean- going research vessels: the R/V Kilo Moana, a 185-ft, twin- hull SWATH (Small Waterplane Area Twin Hull) vessel and the R/V Ka'imikai-O-Kanaloa, a 203-ft monohull vessel. Other world-class facilities include two deep diving submersibles, state-of-the-art hydrographic instruments, real-time satellite receiving stations, coastal radars and a vast network of workstations, servers and computing clusters. Physical Oceanography is part of the School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology (SOEST), a leading multi-disciplinary research school that includes departments in oceanography, meteorology, geological sciences, planetary sciences, marine biology, natural energy, and climate.
