Tenure-Track Faculty Position Biological Oceanography


The School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology (SOEST) was established at the University of Hawaii at Manoa to promote excellence in interdisciplinary research and undergraduate/graduate education in marine, atmospheric and geological sciences. The Department of Oceanography within SOEST is inviting applications for an 11-month, 100% FTE with State funding for 9-months, tenure-track faculty position in Biological Oceanography at the rank of Associate Professor. We seek an individual with interests and research experience in the fields of microbial oceanography and biogeochemistry, and the ability to lead the Hawaii Ocean Time-series (HOT) program, a long-term oceanographic observation program at Station ALOHA that was established in 1988. The successful candidate will also develop outstanding teaching/educational programs, including classroom instruction and contributions to both the graduate Oceanography and undergraduate Global Environmental Science programs. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in oceanography, marine biology, or other relevant discipline with at least 4 years experience at the Assistant Professor level or equivalent; excellent communication skills; demonstrated capability for creative, high-quality research; and the ability to contribute to teaching and mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students.
