The appointee will join Prof. Qiong Zhang's research team in the Department of Ocean Science, HKUST.

The appointee will be expected to engage in the following main activities: 1) Mining of protein/genome sequence databases for metalloproteins; 2) Ion-Trap/Orbitrap identification of proteins; 3) Maintain and culture marine organisms under trace metal clean conditions; 4) (Micro- and Macro-) nutrients manipulation of growth media; 5) Dissemination of research in peer-reviewed international journals, at national and international conferences and through public engagement.

Requirement:

Essential criteria:

• PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Plant Sciences, Ocean Science, Earth Sciences or relevant disciplines (at the time of starting the post);
• Relevant analytical and bioinformatic experience;
• Dexterity and skills in the laboratory;
• Demonstrated record of curiosity-driven research;
• Track-record of planning, implementing, and publishing research projects in a timely manner;
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills

Desirable criteria:

• Experience with protein mass-spectrometry

(Duration: 1 year, renewable)

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided where applicable.
