Nansen Environmental and Remote Sensing CenterResearcher position open at the Mohn-Sverdrup CenterLocation: Bergen, Norway A research position in coupled ice-ocean modeling and data assimilation is open at the Mohn-Sverdrup Center, Nansen Environmental and Remote Sensing Center, Bergen, Norway. The position will be part of a team work to develop and validate the TOPAZ ice-ocean assimilation system for the high latitudes and Arctic Ocean. TOPAZ is a state-of-the-art system using the HYCOM ocean model, coupled with a sea ice model and using the Ensemble Kalman Filter (EnKF) for assimilation of both remote sensing and in-situ data. TOPAZ is the Arctic forecasting component of the European MyOcean project and exploited operationally at met.no. The position is initially for a 2-years duration. We are seeking a candidate with a PhD degree or equivalent in applied mathematics or oceanography and with experience in numerical modelling and data assimilation.
