Visiting Assistant Professor Marine Botany


The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey is seeking to fill a two semester non-tenure track position, at the Assistant Professor or Instructor level, in the area of Marine Science with a specialization in Marine Biology, for September 2010. There is the possibility that this position can lead to a tenure track position effective September 1, 2011. The candidate should be qualified to teach Ecology and Marine Botany. The candidate will also develop a general education science course. Stockton is ranked among the top ten small masters institutions in the northeast. The Stockton is New Jersey's "Green College" and is located in southern New Jersey on 1600 acres about one hour from Philadelphia, two hours from New York City, and 20 minutes from Atlantic City. In addition, it operates four small research vessels at its well equipped Nacote Creek Marine and Environmental Science Field Station 10 minutes from campus. The School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics is in the final design phase of a 65,000 Science Building. The College has a diverse array of undergraduate programs and new Master's degrees in the Sciences. It provides vast opportunities for interdisciplinary academic and scholarly development in the sciences and mathematics. We are seeking outstanding candidates committed to teaching. PhD is required for appointment as Assistant Professor, and ABD or a Master's degree for Instructor. Excellent teaching is expected. Strong scholarship and postdoctoral experience in Marine Botany is a plus; research interests might include, but are not limited to: nutrient chemistry, ecological modeling, genetics, natural products chemistry, or plant physiology. Teaching load is 12 hours for each semester and will consist of lecture and lab sections. Academic experiences with culturally diverse populations desired. Salary and rank are dependent on qualifications and experience. There may be reappointment possibilities depending on funding and success in the classroom.
