10 Competitive PhD Fellowship Positions



The Transatlantic Ocean System Science & Technology (TOSST) graduate school located in Halifax, Nova Scotia, has 10 competitive PhD Fellowship positions at Dalhousie University and the University of New Brunswick.



About TOSST

TOSST is a joint, transatlantic graduate research school linking two major centres of ocean research; Maritime Canada and northern Germany. TOSST complements the existing German-funded Helmholtz Ocean System Science and Technology (HOSST - http://www.geomar.de/studieren/phd-hosst/) research school in Kiel, Germany.

Researchers have the opportunity to participate in summer schools located in Halifax, Kiel, and Cape Verde; take intensive courses in business development, project management, and intellectual property; complete internships in industry, government, and NGOs; and conduct interdisciplinary research in state of the art facilities with co-supervisors in both Canada and Germany.

  • 2 letters of recommendation from academic referees (all recommendation letters will be verified)
  • 2 Academic transcripts
  • Resume or Curriculum Vitae
  • Statement of Interest
  • If applicable, TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language), MELAB or IELTS scores
  • If applicable, the abstract from a previously completed thesis and/or copies of papers published or in preparation
  • " Results of the GRE are not a formal requirement, but are encouraged
