Transatlantic Ocean System Science & Technology (TOSST)

TOSST will convey technical and research skills in ocean science and advanced technologies, and promote the ability to manage deep sea and open ocean environments. Research will address key issues facing the North Atlantic under three themes (seafloor structures, 4D water mass dynamics and ecosystem hotspots). Projects will be focused along a conceptual "transatlantic transect" from West Africa to the Labrador Sea/Baffin Bay.

Trainees will:

• participate in summer schools in Halifax, Kiel and Cape Verde;
• be offered intensive courses on business development, management skills, leadership and integrated policy-making;
• complete internships in industry, government and NGOs;
• conduct interdisciplinary research using state-of-the-art facilities in Canada and Germany, with co-supervisors from both countries.
