Job position description

We seek for a motivated candidate to apply for a PhD scholarship. The candidate should hold M.Sc. degree in Earth Sciences, Marine Sciences, Marine Biology or related field and good English skills. The research project will be supervised by Dr. A. Rita Carrasco and Dr. Katerina Kombiadou.

Project description

Given the increasing impact of climate change on biodiversity, it is essential to understand the potential of ecosystems to adapt to such environmental changes. The PhD project will employ multidisciplinary approaches that aim to understand the long-term evolution of salt marshes, combining research on biophysical interactions (ecology and geomorphology) and assessing their effectiveness as Nature-based solutions in terms of mitigating climate change impacts. The project foresees data collection in the Ria Formosa system. The candidate will receive training in fieldwork data collection and processing.
