Assistant Professor of Marine Science (geological oceanographer)



Position number 82358, College of Arts and Sciences, temporary, nine-month appointment to begin August 2010; pending position clearance and funding.

Duties: Teach undergraduate and MS level graduate courses on campus and on board the department's research vessels, including: undergraduate Oceanography lecture and laboratory, Global Change, Coastal and/or Pelagic Methods and Analyses, Geological Oceanography, undergraduate and graduate courses in the applicant's specialty; the possibility to participate in summer courses for additional compensation; advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students, engage in scholarly activities, participate in departmental, community, and university service.

Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. from an accredited college or university in geological oceanography and demonstrated expertise in teaching at the university level.

Desirable Qualifications: Post-doctoral experience.

Salary: Competitive.
