The Marine Assessment and Decision Support Programme at UNEP-WCMC is convening a new
global marine partnership on critical marine and coastal ecosystems. This partnership aims to
convene a network of agencies, institutions and individuals together to develop, collate, maintain
and deliver high resolution datasets (distributed where necessary and/or appropriate) that are
critical to a range of contemporary assessments, analyses and processes.
To support this process we are seeking an experienced Senior Programme Officer to develop and
execute an effective global marine data partnership on critical marine and coastal ecosystems,
focusing on the following main activities:
- Collaborative development of an appropriate implementation framework for the partnership
- Co-developing a methodological framework
- Co-developing a sustainable funding strategy
The successful candidate will hold a postgraduate qualification in marine, ecology or a related
discipline with a strong emphasis on one or more of the following, GIS, Remote Sensing,
Ecological Niche Modeling, Database Management. S/he will be energetic, motivated and a
solutions-orientated, big picture person.
