Lecturer/Senior Lecturer (Coastal Physical Science)



Hamilton, New Zealand

We wish to appoint a suitably qualified person to support and extend our existing strengths in coastal and marine sciences teaching and research.

To successfully apply for this position you will have a PhD and be a developing leader in your specialist field within coastal physical science, with a significant publication record. We will require you to teach coastal processes, oceanography and coastal environmental sciences to undergraduate students; teach coastal processes at graduate level; develop a vigorous research programme and regularly publish in the discipline or related areas; and form strong liaisons with end-user organisations. You will be able to demonstrate an ability or potential to: supervise graduate and postgraduate students; develop and maintain international research connections; attract external funding; and run research programmes.

A passion for research and a commitment to excellence in teaching at all levels, together with experience in research student supervision are essential. Close collaboration with other staff within the Department and the wider Faculty will be expected. Energy, vision and an eagerness to search out and pursue research opportunities are necessary attributes.

Current salary range for Lecturers is NZ$63,327 to NZ$77,318 per year and Senior Lecturers is NZ$79,226 to NZ$106,319 per year.
