The Department of Geological Oceanography (http://dgo.xmu.edu.cn), an expanding international program, is launching a new post-doctoral scholars program. Already one of China's top oceanography schools, the College (http://coe.xmu.edu.cn:82) aims to establish the Department of Geological Oceanography as a premier center in land-ocean interactions, sedimentary processes/records, and global change.
Well qualified post-doctoral scholars are currently being recruited in the following three focus areas:
- Sediment processes in the coastal region - reconstructing coastal hazards, paleo-climate and paleo-environmental change from coastal sedimentary records.
- Sedimentary provenance analysis (geochemistry, mineralogy, petrology) - sediment source-to-sink study of marginal seas in East Asia.
- Palaeoclimatology, Palaeococeanography, Marine Micropalaeontology - reconstructing the evolution and variability of the Asian monsoon.
Candidates should have a strong background and training in analytical/laboratory/field techniques relevant to the one of the above focus areas. Applications are being accepted now for positions beginning during the Fall semester. Qualified candidates are encouraged to forward their CV to the DGO Chair assistant, Ms. Chen Jingyan (firstname.lastname@example.org). For candidates who may be attending the EGU in Vienna April 24-28, a representative from DGO will be available for questions at exhibition booth #42 "State Key Laboratory of Marine Environmental Science, Xiamen University".
