GEOLOGISTA continuous programme of underground drilling, involving long horizontal boreholes with multiple deflections, facilitates forward mine planning. Recording and processing results from the drilling programme and applying them to the mine planning is a major part of the work of the Geology Department. The work is demanding and involves a substantial proportion of time spent underground, in the mine, in challenging conditions. Minimum academic requirements are a good degree in Geology or Applied/Mining Geology.
The Job
The Person To be successful, you will be a graduate in Geology (or Mining/Applied Geology) with a broad background of science disciplines. Previous mining experience would be an advantage but is not essential as full training and development will be an integral part of the work. Strong computer skills will also be an advantage. You will be self-motivated, reliable, fluent in English and able to get on well with colleagues. General The job involves regular underground duties.
