Job Information

Located in Yellowknife and reporting to the Director, Diamonds, Royalties, and Financial Analysis (DRFA),the Manager Resource and Royalty Policy (Manager) is responsible for the Diamonds Royalties and Financial Analysis (DRFA) input on legislative act and regulation development, including royalty-related policies and legislation such as valuation of diamonds, other mineral resources and oil and gas related and researching royalty-related and production related resource policy within Canada and internationally.

The Manager oversees research on global trends in royalties and mining taxes and the impact of the Northwest Territories (NWT) royalty regime on operating and proposed resource development projects. The Manager is responsible for tracking and researching 43-101 resource/reserve statements, operating plans and associated financial modelling for NWT resource projects.

Typically. the above qualifications would be attained by:

  • A bachelor's degree in a related field (Earth Science, Geological Engineering, Mining Geology). A post graduate qualification in non-renewable resource management policy or non-renewable resource economics. Would be an asset.
  • Minimum of 5 - 7 years' current experience within the mining industry which must include some work with government departments on permitting and regulatory issues

Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

Salary Information

The salary range for this position is from $53.31 per hour to $63.69 per hour (approximately $103,955 to $126,196) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $3,700.
