Scientist / Senior Scientist in mine and
industrial environments

The Geological Survey of Finland (GTK) is seeking a scientist / senior scientist who is eager to pursue challenges to develop solutions for sustainable mining and industrial environments. The position can be located in one of three GTK offices, Kuopio, Espoo or Rovaniemi, and will be placed in the Unit of Industrial Environments and Recycling.

The tasks of the scientist / senior scientist covers water management issues, transport modelling and risk assessment related to soil, ground water and surface waters of mine sites and industrial environments. The scientist / senior scientist is expected to participate in customer work and jointly financed research projects.

We expect the applicant to have a minimum of a M.Sc. degree with good skills in the areas of geochemistry, hydrogeology, geochemical modelling, and environmental geology. We also expect the applicant to have a readiness to work abroad and to be fluent in English.

Previous environmental research experience related to mine sites/industrial environments, mining wastes or contaminated soils and metals is considered an advantage when ranking potential applicants.

The total salary of the position is between 3 330-4 020 /month (Levels 8-9) and is dependent on expertise of the selected person.
