Mining / Oil Equities Analyst

Hardman & Co is a financial research company based in The City of London. It is seeking a qualified geologist to strengthen its team researching the minerals and oil exploration sectors.

The successful candidate will have:

• A geology degree or higher. Applicants from Camborne School of Mines, Imperial College or Edinburgh University will be well received. We are also keen to hear from geologists or analysts with qualifications from overseas universities with a strong resources bias.
• A thorough understanding of how geological factors affect the viability of wide variety of mineral exploration, development and production projects.
• An ability to communicate the diverse risks associated with commercial geological exploration and development to the professional investment community.
• An ability to build financial models or the aptitude to learn how to do so very quickly.
• An ability to work under time pressure and to meet deadlines without sacrificing accuracy.
• An ability to write, in English, to a publication standard and to express complex technical matters in a clear and straightforward manner.
• Good client facing skills and the confidence to work with company executives reporting at board level.
• The willingness to take responsibility for all aspects of client liaison.
• A high level of honesty and personal integrity.
• The willingness to travel to remote and potentially inhospitable locations.
• Unrestricted legal rights to work in the UK on a permanent basis.

In addition:

• Industry experience would be viewed well.
• As would appropriate professional society membership (GSL, PESGB, IMMM, etc).

Wages will be commensurate to skills and experience. There will be the possibility of performance related bonuses and a good potential for advancement.
