Principal Geophysicist required for a gold mine, to provide geophysical knowledge and support for the Exploration Team throughout the exploration process and help with the supervision of exploration work with the specific objectives of discovering, testing and defining metallic and non-metallic mineral resources for the company, using a judicious exploration process.

Responsibilities will include developing geophysical concepts, models and strategies based upon the developing experience and understanding of the team; Co-ordinating effective use of external geophysical expertise as required, ensuring a suitable level of geophysical support is available to all projects; Ensuring technical work is high in quality, cost effective, efficiently carried out and reported professionally; Making frequent visits to field sites to ensure proper implementation of technical standards and field procedures; Providing comprehensive geophysical data, images and interpretation plans for specific exploration projects and areas and developing an effective geophysical database; Keeping abreast of technical advances by perusing technical literature, attending seminars and conferences and maintaining contacts with other Geophysicists outside the company.

Requirements for the role will include a BSc in Geology or Geophysics and preferably an Msc. in Geophysics. Previous field and staff geological experience in the mining exploration industry, including project experience. Demonstrated competence in running gravity, magnetics and EM field programs including the analysis of data and interpretation. Experience in the use of Er-Mapper, Geosoft program producing credible image processing in connection to geological terrain and mineralisation.
