Chief Mine Geologist - Middle East. The role of the Chief Mine Geologist will be to direct the operations of the Mine Geology Department. This will include generating orebody exploration target areas to be evaluated, interpreted and mined efficiently and economically. It will also include calculating orebody reserves and monitoring the grade of ore being mined.
Responsibilities:
- Supervises the activities of personnel assigned to the Mine Geology Department.
- Conducts geological studies to generate orebody target areas and monitors their exploration through the development of geological concepts and ideas based on available geological data.
- Ensures that orebody is evaluated, interpreted and mined efficiently and economically.
- Monitors grade of the ore resource and reserve mined on a daily, monthly and yearly basis to ensure that the orebody is maximised and desired grades are achieved.
- Exercises control over mining factors via monitoring methods and techniques employed during mining.
- Develops short and long term exploration policies, geological database and knowledge of the orebody to enable mined ore to be replenished.
- Manages the ore resources by setting strategic goals and objectives and ensuring strict adherence and implementation.
Qualifications:
- BSc or equivalent in Mining Geology or Geology.
- Experience in the mining industry, including active underground mines, with experience in a supervisory position.
- Good knowledge and operation of geological software such as SURPAC.
