Research Fellow (f/m)

In the Department of Geochemistry and Economic Geology, we focus our research on hydrothermal ore deposits, geochemistry of geothermal systems and environmental mineralogy, and wish to develop strong and visible research in these fields. We offer this new position in order to strengthen the research on ore deposits. A preference will be given to individuals, who follow a mineralogical approach in their research and developed expertise in microscopy and X-ray techniques (XRD, XRF) or alternatively, who have expertise in the application of conventional stable isotope techniques to economic geology.

Your tasks are:

  • to conduct research, either in the field of "hydrothermal ore deposits" or alternatively, in the field of "industrial minerals";
  • to publish in international peer-reviewed journals and present research results at scientific meetings;
  • teaching undergraduate and graduate courses (in German after 2 years);
  • to develop an own research portfolio and research group with PhD, Master and undergraduate students within the geochemistry and economic geology group;
  • to generate multidisciplinary collaborations nationally and internationally and to apply for research grants from public funds and industry.

The following qualifications are required seeking your consideration for this position.

  • MSc and PhD degree (or equivalent) in geosciences with a focus on economic geology with research interests in hydrothermal processes in the continental crust or in industrial minerals;
  • proven track record in producing high quality publications;
  • capacity for interdisciplinary and international teamwork and excellent communication skills.

Contract duration of the full position is limited to three years and can be extended for three more years. The salary corresponds to the E13 level of the wage agreement of the German civil service (TV-L).
