Geotechnical Engineer

We're now seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to be a crucial member of the team. This unprecedented opportunity is a new beginning in every sense of the word. You'll be charged with helping to set up the mine, establishing operational patterns and bringing considerable knowledge to the table.

Based on site, you'll fly in from Perth, Western Australia's stunning capital city. Working 8 days on 6 days off, you'll be provided with on-site accommodation and meals. We don't expect you to make the move on your own. We'll assist you throughout, from obtaining your visa to help with relocation; we'll even give you an insightful introduction to life in WA. The role will ensure geotechnical hazards to mining activities and active mine areas are maintained to an acceptable level of risk. To be considered, you need to have a Degree in Geotechnical/Geological Engineering and over 5 years experience in open pit mining operations.

The duties of the role include:

  • Complying with Company and other relevant standards.
  • Coordinating the development and maintenance of the site Ground Control Management Plan.
  • Coordination of the geotechnical mapping and collection of other geotechnical data and in conjunction with the Senior Mine Geologist maintain a spatial geological and geotechnical database of the mine.
  • Analysis of geotechnical data.
  • Design and review appropriate slope design parameters to ensure stable development of the mine.
  • Design and review appropriate ground support mechanisms to ensure stable development for the life of those excavations.
  • Establish and operate a geotechnical risk education program for all personnel.
  • Periodic audit and evaluation of compliance with the site Ground Control Management Plan.
  • Establishment and development of slope monitoring systems.
  • Geotechnical input to site communition R&D projects.
  • Manage wall control R&D projects.
