The Simandou Iron Ore Project is one of the most exciting and valuable developments within Rio Tinto. Situated in South East Guinea this world-class iron ore province is of exceptional size and quality. The project comprises development of a 70mtpa mine, a 700km rail system and construction of a deep water port. This is a Greenfield development with unique characteristics to be developed in one of the world's poorest countries.

The Drilling Supervisor is responsible for supporting drilling activities to ensure drilling contractors and team members focus on achieving the highest quality drilling practices, safety, sample quality and consistency. With prior experience in reverse circulation and diamond drilling programs, you will demonstrate proactive behaviour with regards to safety and environmental issues.

This position provides excellent scope for developing experience in the planning, supervision and evaluation of complex multi-rig iron ore drilling programs, in contractor management and will involve regular campaigned field work. In addition, you will be responsible for the engagement, development and management of the local workforce.

This role requires previous RC and diamond drilling experience and the successful candidate will be resourceful, self motivated and possess strong communication and influencing skills. Ideally the successful candidate will have at least conversational level English and French (written and verbal); have an awareness of cultural differences and be confident working with people to collaboratively solve problems.
