SRK Consulting (UK) Ltd is based in Cardiff, the capital of Wales. We offer a variety of interesting and challenging projects working from a capital city location. Many of our projects are of an international nature and utilise SRK's international consulting network.

SRK Consulting (UK) is seeking a Consultant level Mining Engineer to join an expanding Open Pit team. As a minimum, applicants should have a Bachelor Degree or equivalent in a Mining related discipline together with relevant practical and operational experience gained in open pit mining environments.

Applicants should have experience in many aspects of the open pit mine planning process including optimisation, pit design, equipment selection and production scheduling.

The work will also involve providing operating and capital cost estimation and budgeting input to scoping, pre-feasibility and feasibility studies.

The successful applicant will require essential skills and experience in open pit practices and must be highly computer literate and proficient in using mine planning software such as Datamine, Vulcan and Surpac. Knowledge and experience in optimisation software such as Whittle is also desirable.

Excellent communication, technical report writing and project management skills, together with a high level of numeracy, are also essential.

This position involves working in multi-disciplinary teams on a range of projects in the UK and overseas and international travel will form a significant part of the role. Candidates must be fluent in written and spoken English. Knowledge of a foreign language would also be advantageous.
