Senior Open Pit Mining Engineer

SRK Consulting (UK) Ltd is based in Cardiff, Wales - Europe's youngest capital city. We offer a variety of interesting and challenging projects working from a capital city location. Many of our projects are of an international nature and utilise SRK's international consulting network.

SRK Consulting (UK) is seeking a Senior Open Pit Mining Engineer to join an expanding Mining department. The work will involve undertaking the following activities:

• dump design and optimisation studies
• mine design, optimisation and scheduling
• reserve evaluations, production schedule, mine equipment and economic evaluation
• project management and co-ordination
• mentoring Consultant and Senior Consultant level staff

The work will involve undertaking the following activities:

• Financial and technical appraisals of Greenfield and existing mining operations
• Feasibility studies (conceptual, scoping, preliminary, bankable)
• Due Diligence
• Mine and Excavation Design
• Operational assistance and improvements

Applicants should, as a minimum, have a Bachelor Degree or equivalent in a mining related discipline and have experience of working with a variety of commodities. Applicants should have essential experience in different aspects of the open pit mine planning processes including optimisation, pit design, equipment selection and production scheduling.

Majority of experience gained in an international (non-UK environment) essential.

Excellent communication, technical report writing and project management skills, together with a high level of numeracy, are essential. Candidates must also be fluent in written and spoken English.

This position involves working in multi-disciplinary teams on a range of projects in the UK and overseas and international travel will form a significant part of the role.

In return, we offer an attractive salary package: £45,000 to £60,000 depending on skills. Including performance based bonus, group personal pension scheme, employee share participation as well as optional private medical and health screening schemes.
