Mining Engineer
Sydvaranger Gruve AS was formed in 2007 for the purpose of producing high quality magnetite iron ore concentrate from idled mining and processing facilities in Kirkenes, Northern Norway. With mining having commenced in May 2009 followed by concentrate production in October, the project has entered an exciting phase.
The company is seeking a Mining Engineer.
Job description
- Reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer, the Mining Engineer is responsible for ensuring the safe and smooth operation of all mining activities in a number of pits in a manner that achieves both ore production and quality targets
- The key deliverables for this position are :
- Ensuring mining activity is conducted in a safe manner and in line with company procedures
- Coordinate and plan all drill and blast activities
- Ensuring mining activity is occurring in areas defined in the longer term mine plans
- Liaising with the maintenance and processing teams
- The Mining Engineer is a key coordinating role in the mine. The ability to build effective working relationships across the entire operation is essential to succeeding in this role

Qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications in mining engineering or a related discipline
- 2-4 years experience in an openpit environment, with an emphasis on blasting
- High level of computer literacy, including the use of computerized mine planning systems, previous exposure to Surpac highly desirable
- Preference will be given to Scandinavian residents
