Description:

To provide expert support for project teams on rock mechanics and ground control aspects for Scoping, Pre-Feasibility and Feasibility Studies being conducted for mining projects. Provide expert input on rock mechanics issues such as mine development, scope sequencing, infrastructure locations, and ground support.

Position Requirements:

• The Rock Mechanics Specialist must have sound knowledge of mine engineering and planning, including mining methods, blasting, mine development and filling.
• Must have a working knowledge of the requirements and constraints of the laws (Occupational Health and Safety Act & Ontario Mining Regulations).
• Mine operations experience and/or project related experience is an asset.

Educational Requirements:

• Advanced University Degree in Mining Engineering or related field with specific emphasis on Rock Mechanics or Geo-Mechanics.
  OR
• University degree in mining engineering or related field

Experience

• 10+ years of progressive experience in a technical support role in rock mechanics, including management of consultants, contractors and company personnel.
  OR
• 5 years of progressive experience in a technical support role in rock mechanics

License/Professional Requirements:

• Registered, or eligible for registration, as a Professional Engineer in the province of Ontario
