Description:

In this role, the Buyer will select and manage suppliers of production-related materials with an emphasis on continual improvements to cost, quality, service and delivery. This person will work closely with corporate purchasing and interface with the Engineering service providers to ensure that Vale Inco's purchasing requirements are followed during the detail engineering phase and that the site warehousing systems are effectively implemented.

Position Requirements:

• Develop and maintain procurement plans to maximize value added activities;
• Prepare and issue PO and Change Orders;
• Prepare and Issue Supplementary Instructions;
• Issue RFQ and RFP; Evaluate bidders; Perform Cost /price analysis on proposals and issue Letter of Recommendations;
• Resolve PO/ Contractual issues, Review Claims and Warranty issues;
• Expedite the PO;
• Prepare status reports;
• Familiarity with technical specifications and engineering drawings;
• Familiarity with ERP systems (E.g. Oracle)
• Computer software skills in spreadsheet, scheduling, word and databases;
• Participate in cross-functional projects as required;
• Familiarity with contracts, contract language, general terms and conditions, the ability to negotiate various type of contracts with suppliers;
• Excellent verbal and written Communications skills; analytical and team work skills;
• Ability to think independently and strong work ethic.

Educational/Experience Requirements:

• A relevant University Degree or College Diploma (e.g. Engineering Technologist or Operational Management or BSc in Engineering or Business Administration)
• Minimum of 5 to 7 years purchasing experience in Mining or Mineral Processing or Manufacturing

License/Professional Requirements:

• Ideally P.Eng. or CPP or CIRM
• Ideally PMAC Certification - (E.g. Certificate in Purchasing or CPP)
