Description:
The Construction Health and Safety Manager directs the development, implementation, and maintenance of a comprehensive environmental, health and safety management system for projects managed by the Industrial Implementation group. This position provides the leadership and expertise to obtain excellence in environmental, health and safety and ensures compliance with regulations. The role holder reports directly to the Director, Industrial Project Implementation but equally supports the site project management teams during execution.
Position Requirements:
- Skill in auditing/inspecting operations and company procedures
- Ability to develop and implement effective Health and Safety strategies and management systems
- Working knowledge of applicable environmental, health and safety standards
- Knowledge of facility and operational procedures
- Ability to foster and develop a cooperative work environment
- Ability to use sound, prudent, and independent judgment
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with employees at all levels of the company
Educational/Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a related technical, scientific, or engineering discipline and/or equivalent experience; bachelor's degree preferred
Experience:
- 10 years or more in a Health and Safety managerial or supervisory position in a large project environment in the industrial or mining sector
- Minimum of 5 years Health and Safety experience in industry in construction and operations
