Project Manager, Engineering Studies

Description:

To develop and maintain a core team of highly trained and motivated engineering professionals to deliver mining project studies from scoping to technical feasibility. The role holder will need to validate and challenge engineering studies and key sub studies when they are contracted out so that design assumptions are fully understood and accepted. The role holder will have the authority to recommend project viability to the Mine Steering Team. This role has authority to review and approve (concur) with the work that is done by engineering contractors.

Position Requirements:

  • Must have a sound knowledge of engineering services, mine design, mining methods, mine utilities (air, water, power supply), mine maintenance systems, cost estimating, budgeting, Capital Appropriation processes (business cases, budget development) and scheduling.
  • Required detailed knowledge of project management techniques (cost controls, variance reporting, resource allocation), financial evaluation, and cost/scope management.
  • Skilled in the use of the Project Mgmt systems.

Educational/Experience Requirements:

  • BSc Engineering

Experience:

  • 10 years experience and experience in engineering (in underground mining sector) as well as project management.

  • OR
  • 5 years + experience in engineering and project management experience in a senior role.

License/Professional Requirements:

  • Member of, or be eligible for membership in, Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO)
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation preferable but not essential
