Senior Geophysicist

Position Description:

To provide geophysical expertise to support exploration and new venture activity, in particular driving forward geophysical evaluation of assets and prospect generation

Principal Duties include:

  • Seismic Interpretation using GeoFrame and mapping using PetroSys
  • Interpretive evaluation and integration of potential field data including magnetics, gravity and controlled source electromagnetic
  • Quantitative geophysics and interaction with rock physics and petrophysics
  • Collation/Integration and analysis of geological, geophysical and petrophysical data from multiple sources including wells and remote sensed data
  • Preparation of basin, play and block maps and sections
  • Play, prospect and lead analysis, risk assessment and volumetrics, stochastic and deterministic
  • Interaction with 3rd party geological/geophysical studies and projects
  • Written and verbal reporting and appropriate presentation
  • Input to well proposals/post well evaluations as appropriate
  • Recommendation, preparation, design and operational management of geophysical field programmes, processing and reprocessing programmes, including Wellsite geophysics
  • Mentoring and coaching of junior staff in all the above

Qualifications/Experience:

The following skills, qualifications and experience are required:

  • Good Geological/Geophysical degree
  • A minimum of 8 years experience in an operating Exploration company as a Geophysicist
  • Extensive worldwide experience in geological & geophysical evaluation in frontier exploration
  • Experience across different phases of activity i.e. new ventures, wildcat exploration, brown field exploration, appraisal and production, prospects and leads inventory/evaluation
  • Operations experience and an appreciation of the wider business angle, would be useful; but the main focus should be on exploration
  • Working with Stakeholders - Developing Others
