Position Description:
Purpose of the job:
- To process geophysical data in support of the Company’s exploration and
development activities.
- To execute the work in an integrated team with acquisition
geophysicists, seismic interpreters and quantitative interpretation
geophysicists.
- To supervise seismic processing contractors.
- To provide expert advice on seismic data processing.
- To identify and implement the proper geophysical technology and to
execute the work in accordance with the minimum technical standards (SPTS).
- To develop the processing skills of local staff.
Principal Accountabilities include:
- Execute geophysical data processing, in accordance with business
objectives, meeting HSE requirements and following best practice standards (SPTS/SPM),
at a competitive cost, on budget and on time.
- Responsible for the quality and efficient execution of geophysical data
processing projects and for keeping management and stakeholders properly
informed of the project progress and input requirements.
- Provide expert seismic processing advice to customers and management and
to co-develop processing plans and strategies.
- Coach less experienced team members, share relevant knowledge and
learning’s with team members as a matter of practice and maintain a team
spirit that is characterized by high performance, co-operation, support,
openness and respect.
- Strike a balance between time and cost control and new technology
identification and implementation for processing projects and find fit for
purpose solutions.
- Develop standards for the application of new technology and ensure these
are implemented in the team and contribute to the maintenance of the
Geophysics Management System and its ISO9001 accreditation.
- Maintain knowledge of new technology developments across the geophysical
industry.
Qualifications/Experience:
The following skills, qualifications and experience are required:
- Academic degree (minimum MSc, in Physics or Geophysics), with 8+ years
experience in geophysical data processing.
- Experience in 3D land seismic data processing through hands-on and/or as
contractor processing supervision.
- Expert knowledge of geophysical data processing techniques available
with major contractors.
- Knowledge of seismic acquisition, seismic interpretation and of
quantitative seismic interpretation.
- Knowledge of the impact that seismic data processing can have on
prospect maturation and field development.
- Good communication skills (verbal/writing/English), excellent coaching
skills and project management skills.
