Position Description:
To oversee the development of strategies to take Qatar's
energy strategy beyond oil and gas and to oversee the establishment of the
organizations to implement these strategies.
Principal Accountabilities:

Manages the identification of factors which will shape
the choice of energy technology used by the Company and the State of Qatar.

Provides the Director of Strategic Planning and Policy
with expert advice on alternative energy technologies that have the
potential to be utilized in the State of Qatar.

Provides recommendations to the Director of Strategic
Planning and Policy regarding studies that will assist the State of Qatar in
utilizing alternative energy technologies.

Manages the execution of these studies.

Recommends objectives and strategies for investment in
new energy technologies.

Recommends policies. objectives and strategies for energy
efficiency measures in the State of Qatar and within the Company.

Manages the development of Business Plans to implement
these strategies.

Reviews the capabilities of the Company and other
organizations in order to assess skill gaps and resource requirements in the
area of alternative energy.

Manages the formulation of recommendations relating to
alternative energy and energy efficiency strategies (including new depts. in
the Company, new companies and new contractual relationships with
international companies.)
Decision Accountability:
Accountable to the Director Strategic Planning and Policy
for making recommendations about which alternative energy opportunities are
appropriate for the State of Qatar, for developing strategies and plans to
pursue these opportunities, for analysing and making recommendations
concerning the resources and organisation needed to implement these plans, and
for ensuring the quality of advice and information provided by Alternative
Energy Department
Qualifications/Experience:
The following skills, qualifications and experience are
required:

A university degree in Engineering, Economics or Finance
preferably at a post graduate level and industrial courses in management,
economic modelling and financial analysis.

10 to 15 years experience in an engineering, commercial,
planning or planning related role in the energy sector with at least 5 years
business development experience, and at least 5 years experience at a
supervisory level.
Problem Solving:
-
This position requires excellent strategic thinking and
wide ranging knowledge of the energy industry, with in depth understanding
of the nuclear and renewable energy sectors.

Must have strong leadership skills and the ability to
work with a wide variety of other disciplines in a cooperative and efficient
manner.

Must have exceptionally strong analytical skills, with
the ability to both critically review subordinates' work in detail where
necessary, and to identify and extract the key strategic issues from the
detail.

Needs to have the experience and instincts to set
priorities for the work undertaken by the department.
Company Description:
Responsible for all phases of the oil and gas industry in
Qatar. Principal activities include exploration, drilling production, storage
and transport and sale of crude oil, natural gas liquids, liquefied natural gas,
gas-to-liquids, refined products and petrochemicals.
