Senior Reservoir Engineer

Position Description:

The role offers you many challenges in a highly active, multi-disciplinary team where you will have significant opportunities to use all your skills and undertake a variety of project assignments depending on your experiences.

You will be responsible for reservoir engineering on both operated and non-operated developments within the UK business unit, and will assist the UK Exploration team with Reservoir Engineering queries. You will carry out well test analysis, engineering input to well design and data acquisition programs for reservoir engineering data, reservoir modelling and network modelling. You will principally carry out the work yourself but will also be asked to QC work carried out within this discipline on behalf of the UK whether sourced internally or via external consultancies.

As an experienced RE you will from part of the Company’s RE network, you can get support from the network, and will be expected to provide support to the network – in the form of technical advice and peer assistance.

You may be asked to act as a corporate resource for Reservoir Engineering expertise and carry out Peer Reviews on the Company’s assets outside the UK. You will also help to co-ordinate and organise Peer Reviews for assets in the WOS area where you will represent the RE discipline and its work.

The role will include:

  • Providing detailed petroleum / reservoir engineering knowledge to optimize reservoir development

  • Material Balance and Decline curve analysis of reservoir volumes

  • Well performance, design and optimisation.

  • PVT analysis

  • Modelling of surface gathering network of field production systems, leading to integrated production models of individual reservoirs or clusters or reservoirs sharing common infrastructure

  • Dynamic modelling utilising tools such MBAL, Prosper and GAP (Petroleum Experts)

  • Dynamic simulation modelling utilising the Company’s developed or operator provided simulation models.

  • Sensitivity and uncertainty analysis incorporating tools such as experimental design to ensure that the full range of potential dynamic reservoir performance has been estimated.

  • Performing risk analysis that will influence the robustness of the project

  • Planning new wells as part of an integrated team

The team will grow as the extensive exploration and development portfolio matures, and it is anticipated that the successful candidate will find their responsibilities and exposure growing accordingly. As such this represents a significant career development opportunity. Team is located in UK, however work commitments may entail business travel in NW Europe.

Qualifications/Experience:

The following skills, qualifications and experience are required:

  • A postgraduate degree in Reservoir Engineering or related subject

  • At least 7 years experience

  • Prior petroleum / reservoir engineering experience in an operational environment

  • Prior experience in the West of Shetlands and/or an analog deep-water harsh environment would be advantageous

  • Providing detailed petroleum / reservoir engineering knowledge to optimize reservoir development

  • Dynamic simulation experience in ECLIPSE

  • Material Balance and Decline curve analysis of reservoir volumes

  • Well performance, design and optimisation. Predicting well tubing and pipeline hydraulics and temperatures

  • PVT analysis

  • Modelling of surface gathering network of field production systems.

  • Dynamic modelling utilising tools such MBAL, Prosper and GAP (Petroleum Experts)

  • Performing risk analysis that will influence the robustness of the project

  • Planning new wells as part of an integrated team

  • Providing operational support and updating of models with the latest drilling data

  • Supplying input to facilities and project engineering to assist in development planning and facilities design

  • Cross-discipline interaction towards petrophysics, reservoir engineering and facilities / subsea engineering.

  • Multi-disciplinary team work
