An international oil and gas exploration company
quoted on the London Stock Exchange, with a portfolio of producing assets in the
UK, Indonesia, Pakistan and West Africa. An active exploration and appraisal
programme is ongoing in the UK, South and South East Asia (Indonesia,
Philippines, Vietnam, Pakistan and India) and Africa (Mauritania, Guinea Bissau,
Gabon and Egypt).
The Exploration Geologist is
responsible for performing various geological evaluations and studies related to
Exploration and Exploitation activities on the Company’s Indonesian Assets. Key
responsibilities include:

Work within a
multi-disciplinary environment to provide geological input to the exploration
and exploitation assets within the company’s operate and non-operated licenses
-
Generate detailed and general
paleo-geographic, facies, isopach and structural maps using all available
geophysical, well and analog data. Undertake regional mapping and incorporate
basin modeling studies to identify and define play concepts and prospects

Understand and apply risking
and resource estimation methods

Work closely with the
development teams to integrate development and production data in to the
exploration work programme as well as provide regional context for field
development studies

Support, maintain and develop
the regional geoscience database, both through direct work and supervision of
subordinates
-
Prepares AFE requests, provides
input on preparation of technical specifications for contracts, carries out
the bidding process for contract award, monitors and controls field
expenditures and assists in budget preparation.

Develop and maintain good
working relationships with external stakeholders including joint venture
partners and government representatives.

Prepare comprehensive
documentation of all major work and studies undertaken.

| Qualifications/ Experience: |
The following skills,
qualifications and experience are required:
-
University degree in Geology
with a post-graduate degree preferred.

7+ years relevant working
experience, a substantial period being with an operator.

Good understanding of
geological concepts and applications particularly sequence stratigraphy and
depositional systems and how they combine in to a petroleum system model.

Advance log analysis /
formation evaluation skills would be an advantage
-
Good understanding of seismic
3D & 2D interpretation and mapping.

Analytical skills to integrate
and interpret a broad variety of data sets.

Good interdisciplinary training

Strongly computer literate
-
Self motivated with a proven
record of achieving targets.
