Worldwide oil and gas exploration and production company with refining and marketing operations. The Company’s focus is finding oil and natural gas, and that is primarily done through an exploration program that is cantered on deepwater Gulf of Mexico and its international prospects. In addition to exploration opportunities in North America, there are significant oil and gas exploration/production in other parts of the globe such as Malaysia and the Congo.

The primary responsibility of the role is to be the lead geophysicist in a small team interpreting regional and prospect-specific seismic data to develop ready to drill prospects and upon discovery follow up with appraisal drilling. There will be a lot of drilling based on the interpretation.

The position requires an energetic and committed self starter who enjoys working in small teams with tight deadlines:

  • Structural Interpretation of 3D data sets for mapping and well locations

  • Attribute analysis of the 3D dataset to determine the correlation of rock properties to seismic attributes

  • Developing well proposals

  • Communicating and selling ideas to management and partners

  • Performing well planning and geophysical operations in support of the ongoing drilling programme

  • Assessing the current data set and recommending further processing and acquisition as appropriate

  • Advisor on all Development Geophysics requirements

  • Familiarity in a multi-cultural environment and enjoy mentoring national staff.

Qualifications/ Experience:

The following skills, qualification and experience are required:

  • Relevant Degree in Geoscience, preferably an MSc

  • 15 – 20 years experience

  • Interpreting and mapping large volumes of 3D seismic data

  • Experience in deepwater tertiary deltas

  • Skilled infill prospect generator

  • Knowledge of attribute analysis and rock physics

  • Experience with Landmark software, Paradigm VoxelGeo and Petrosys

  • Familiar with quantitative seismic interpretation (AVO analysis, rock physics.)

  • Ability to work to tight deadlines

  • Enthusiasm for communicating ideas and team working
