The Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Production Geologist with the technical expertise to be the interface between engineering and Geoscience operations and data.

Key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Provide integrated geological and engineering support to producing fields
  • Mentor a team in construction of 3D models and simulations for use in reservoir surveillance and field development
  • Recommend optimization to drilling operations for both normal and horizontal wells
  • Revise new well locations and work-over candidates
  • Assist in developing depletion plans
  • Prepare reports for technical studies and present to management and other relevant groups
  • Provide technical support and input to reserves reporting
  • Provide geoscience inputs to the evaluation and development planning of unconventional hydrocarbon reservoirs, including tight oil and gas sands
  • Provide support to new ventures activity as appropriate and when required to assist the growth of the company.

The Person

The following skills, experience and qualifications are required:

  • Minimum of a Degree in a Geoscience discipline
  • 15+ years experience in production geoscience along with broad technical experience in development geology and interaction with production engineers
  • Expert understanding of static geological model building, including the incorporation of rock and fluid property data, pressure data, and flow unit data (PLT data), up-scaling to dynamic simulation models and model building workflows for use in field development, surveillance and management, and for calculation of reserve estimates incorporating engineering data.
  • Experience of EOR/IOR projects including water, steam and chemical flood/displacement techniques
  • Significant experience with an operating oil company is essential
  • Understanding of project execution and cost implications
  • Strong current workstation skills, including working in a 3D visualisation environment
  • Work with multi-disciplinary teams
  • Effective team player
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Proven abilities in leading and mentoring staff
  • Commercially aware with entrepreneurial attitude
  • Willingness to travel internationally.
