The Role
Our client is seeking a highly motivated, experienced technical geophysicist to work within a dynamic Geophysical Projects team, to provide specialist support for exploration and reservoir development for the company's operated and non-operated acreage and producing fields.
Key responsibilities of this role include:
- 2D and 3D seismic interpretation including the generation of relevant time, depth, velocity and attribute maps
- Generation of well ties and detailed synthetic seismograms including wavelet analysis and fluid substitution studies to understand the seismic responses
- Rock physics studies as required, including seismic attribute studies, seismic modelling, inversions and AVO
- 2D and 3D velocity model building
- Generation of 3D property volumes for inclusion in static reservoir models
- Design and implementation of VSP surveys as appropriate
- Database co-ordination
- Written and verbal reporting of technical studies and presentation to management, partners and Government
- Promote excellence within the geophysics group
- Participate in cross team peer review sessions
- Develop and mentor junior geophysicists and peers in the asset team
- Encourage access to leading technologies
- Network across discipline groups.
The Person
The following skills, experience and qualifications are required:
- Degree or higher in Geophysics
- 12 + years of experience primarily in seismic interpretation with a solid understanding of rock physics, along with broad technical experience in hydrocarbon exploration
- Significant experience with an operating oil company is essential
- Stong knowledge of all seismic activities including seismic acquisition, processing and related geophysical operations
- Good understanding of geological processes and features apparent in seismic, including skills in seismic sequence stratigraphy and seismic geomorphology
- Experience of numerous basins worldwide, including deep water depositional settings
- Understanding of project execution and cost implications
- Strong current geophysical workstation skills, including working in a 3D visualisation environment
- Expertise in GIS and database management would be an advantage
- Team player with open and flexible approach
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Commercially aware with entrepreneurial attitude
- Willingness to travel extensively.
