Subsea Engineer

Our Client

A successful oil and gas exploration and production company with regional and international assets.

The Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Subsea Engineer to be responsible for designing subsea wellhead arrangements, manifolds, control, umbilicals and riser including installation and operations in accordance with industry standards, local regulatory requirements and company standards and objectives.

Key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Review and report on the following:
    • Overall design of subsea system, field architecture, control, umbilicals, and riser
    • Design, specification, and selection of equipment (eg flowlines, manifolds, wellheads, controls and subsea well intervention equipment)
    • P&ID, PFD and UFD drawings
    • Subsea cost estimates (CAPEX, OPEX, and ABEX).
  • Liaise with facilities design, subsurface, drilling and operation teams to ensure inclusion of life-of-field requirements (flow, lifting, testing) in designs and cost estimation
  • Ensure timely preparation and risk assessment of program amendments and all activities are safely conducted to meet SSHE standards
  • Evaluate and validate tender proposals from subsea equipment vendors
  • Participate in the vendor selection to ensure appropriate technical expertise in both equipment and personnel
  • Oversee cost and schedule adherence of subsea equipment vendor and manage any design or manufacturing issues that may arise
  • As required, participate in HSE related workshop (eg QRA, HAZID, HAZOP), risk workshop, PTR, PPR&C and other workshops to meet company standard
  • Support project planning to develop Project Execution Plan and overall integrated project schedule
  • Conduct post project reviews and make recommendations for areas of improvement.

The Person

The following skills, experience and qualifications are required:

  • A Degree/Diploma in Engineering or Science from a recognized university
  • Minimum 10 years experience with extensive experience in oil and gas subsea well intervention and development projects from design through procurement, manufacturing, fabrication, installation, hook-up and commissioning
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant subsea codes, standards and industry practices
  • Strong working knowledge of subsea equipment specification and industry standards
  • Good interpersonal skills and proven ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams
  • Ability to communicate project requirements to ensure required outcomes are achieved
  • Skilled in adapting to and working in a changing environment
  • Proven abilities in knowledge sharing and contributing to both team and other staff
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively at all levels, both verbal and written
  • Strong project management skills and effective in managing multiple activities
  • Self-disciplined and results driven individual that works well under pressure.
