Senior Facilities Engineer

Our Client

Established UK Oil and Gas E&P company successfully exploring and developing interests internationally.

The Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Facilities Engineer to generate development and project concepts, costs and schedules in support of global business development and exploration activities.

A key focus of this role will be to support conceptual development and field development planning work up to FEED, together with providing support to the Principal Facilities Engineer, Engineering Department and non-operated Development Projects.

Key responsibilities for this role will include:

  • Identify, review and assess development concepts for new license areas, prospects or discovered resources
  • Provide or review high-level cost estimates and schedules for conceptual developments
  • Produce potential investment proposals/recommendations in coordination with subsurface, well engineering, HSE and commercial teams
  • Contribute to further project delivery (assurance) process development/implementation
  • Ensure all activities are compliant with company HSEQ policies, including development planning, concept selection and project execution
  • Research and be aware of technology maturation and oil/gas developments deployed globally, as well as developing a database of costs/schedules
  • Responsible for fluid characterisation, process selection and flow assurance work in support of potential developments
  • Generate and manage development/facility risk register
  • Advise on appropriate contracting strategies for development projects and production operations
  • Monitor operator activities (monthly reports, OCM/TCMs etc)
  • Identify opportunities to add value / avoid value erosion and influence operator appropriately
  • Review, challenge and track of cost, schedule and key deliverables (FDP, BoD, PEP, etc).

The Person

The following skills, experience and qualifications are required:

  • A Degree in Engineering, preferably with an MSc or similar
  • Professional or Chartered Engineer or equivalent
  • Significant experience working on all phases of a major project within the oil and gas industry including onshore/offshore, oil and gas and production operations, on a variety of international projects
  • Solid understanding of HSE and risk management issues associated with front-end, execution and operating phases of a project
  • Experience with formal stage gate, design and project value assurance process
  • Proficient with cost estimating packages eg Questor
  • Good interpersonal skills and proven ability to organise and lead multi-disciplinary teams
  • Ability to build good relationships and networks
  • Strong project management skills and effective in managing multiple activities
  • Commercially aware with entrepreneurial attitude
  • A keen analytical brain and good problem solving capabilities
  • Confident and effective communication and presentation skills.
