The Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Geologist with broad geological knowledge and solid experience in exploration. The main function of this position will be to interpret 2D/3D seismic, evaluate exploration assets, generate new, and evaluate existing exploration opportunities. Responsibilities will include:
- The interpretation and regional integration of 2D and 3D seismic
- Play and prospect evaluation, generation and recommendations to management
- Evaluation of new ventures at the exploration level and/or development/production level
- Provide geological support in all areas of Exploration/Appraisal activities
- Well log interpretation, correlation and integration with seismic interpretation to develop regional geological models
- Focal point for reserves evaluation for full exploration prospect/lead portfolio
- Preparation/presentation of technical material to management, partner(s) and government officials
- Support Exploration/Appraisal drilling operations as required.
The Person
The following skills experience and qualifications are required:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Geology or a related field
- Min of 10 years experience working as a Geoscientist in the oil and gas industry
- Proficiency in a range of geoscience software
- Good knowledge of all aspects of geological and geophysical evaluation from early stage exploration to development stages
- Work experience and knowledge of both offshore and onshore basins
- Sound knowledge of geology and geophysics with an understanding of clastic depositional systems is desirable
- Proven prospect generator with the ability to carry out reserves evaluation
- Strong organisational and presentation skills to effectively communicate with peers, colleagues, partners and government authorities
- Enthusiastic and dedicated team player
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English are essential.
