Offshore Engineering Manager

A leading engineering company offering project management and engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning services for offshore and subsea construction projects.

The Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to join their team for a major offshore well platform project. In this role the Engineering Manager will:

• Provide oversight of Offshore Facilities, Topsides Leads and Design Managers
• Apply engineering judgment in making adaptations and modifications to projects
• Project duties include independently evaluating, selecting and applying engineering techniques, procedures and criteria to concurrent engineering projects
• Responsible for development, maintenance, and compliance of processes, procedures, and tools for the engineering department in their relevant discipline or area of expertise
• Responsible for personnel and performance management include: hiring, mentoring, coaching, and assignment.

Responsibilities will include:

• Management of engineers and designers
• Significant design and design review input, engineering calculations, studies, detailed design, report writing, field investigations and direction of lower level engineers and/or designers
• Interaction with Project Managers, project team leads, other discipline leads, clients, contractors and other third parties
• Directing project workflow of engineers, designers and drafters to ensure project completion with responsibility for technical content and quality of the work, adherence to budgets and schedules, scope and deliverables and the functional integration of individual project tasks
• Selecting and applying engineering, principles and concepts in field of specialization with advanced working knowledge of other related disciplines
• Developing design basis for relevant discipline or area of expertise
• Comply to and implement corporate safety protocols and for scheduling mandatory safety meetings.

The Person

The following skills, experience and qualifications are required:

• Degree qualification is required preferably in mechanical engineering or structural engineering.
• Minimum of 10 years of offshore O&G engineering work experience; min 5 years senior project management experience in related project engineering activities
• Prior experience with offshore marine construction; familiar with fabrication and installation of equipment, platform and pipelines
• Knowledge of processes from drawings and specifications through completed construction.
• Familiar with ASME and API codes
• Prior project organization and management experience required with experience preparing schedules, cost reporting, status tracking, and management reporting
• Prior experience generating job proposals, developing engineering budgets, developing installed cost estimates, working with multidiscipline design team, preparing weekly project status reports, updating bi-weekly backlog reports, and managing project requirements
• Prior experience in an engineering office environment
• Self motivated with ability to work independently, use initiative and make decisions
• Excellent communication, writing and organizational skills
• Ability to develop and foster a good working relationship with current and future customers
• Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, and Excel.
