A highly successful gas exploration and production company.

The Role

Our client is seeking an operationally focused Team Lead Process Engineer to bring experience to their operations engineering support team with responsibility for the selection and integrity of all process engineering systems and equipment on this multi-billion dollar development. Previous experience in oil or gas is not essential, but operational experience in a hazardous process is necessary.

The Team Lead Process Engineer will be responsible for ensuring all processes and the physical plant and equipment associated with them is fit for purpose and is operated within the designed parameters. They will also participate in evaluating and approving modifications to existing processes and equipment. The role will involve acquiring and maintaining an understanding of future engineering requirements by liaising with key stakeholders and keeping abreast of the company's infrastructure development activities.

Accountabilities will include:
  • Regularly review field processes, operations and plant, and liaise with field teams on delivering target outcomes.
  • Establish and maintain plant and equipment design procedures and confirm operational compliance within design parameters.
  • Participate in process and equipment reviews across projects and multi-disciplines during FEED, detailed design and construction. Also contribute to post-implementation reviews of infrastructure performance, development and maintenance.
  • Evaluate, prepare and review process engineering modifications and equipment specifications and ensure plant engineering design changes are communicated efficiently to other stakeholders.
  • Monitor company and sub-contractor operations for compliance with governmental requirements and JV agreements.
  • Monitor and make recommendations on technology advances.
  • Work with the Production Managers to construct and deliver programs to develop or enhance the production processes.
  • Participate in production and maintenance engineering reviews and asset optimisation processes.
  • Conduct technical research on processes and equipment and provide technical reports as required.
  • Ensure adherence to the company's HSE policies and guidelines.

The Person

The following skills, experience and qualifications are required:

  • Degree in process engineering or chemistry.
  • Relevant experience in field operations involving hazardous process. Experience in oil or gas is desirable but not essential.
  • Demonstrated experience in a Lead Engineering role involving a hazardous process is essential, preferably involving high pressure or compression systems is desirable.
  • Experience with permit to work systems.
  • Demonstrated experience with field safety management and developing safe operating procedures.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills and proven ability to resolve issues with third parties and contractors.
  • Knowledge of quantifying and assessing risk and developing risk mitigation strategies.
  • Ability to focus on the key operational issues and prioritise accordingly
  • Stong leaderships skills.
  • Sound project management skills.
  • Highly motivated and results orientated
