The Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Operations Geologist to provide technical expertise within their exploration, development and optimisation projects. Key responsibilities will include:
- Supervising exploration and development programs for wells - both conventional and unconventional wells.
- Manage and provide, direction, training and mentoring to a team of Operations Geologists that has responsibility for activities associated with exploration, development and drilling.
- Manage the coordination of the company's well sampling (core, cuttings, formation fluid, gas log) programmes, structural geology and geomechanical projects, quality control and support and assist in the management of geophysical surveys
- Undertake data interpretation, data management and maintenance of database integrity
- Assist in negotiating commercial contracts with third party providers.
- Plan logging programs ensuring alignment with exploration, appraisal and development plans.
- Evaluate new technologies
The Person
The following skills, experience and qualifications are required:
- Degree or higher in Geology or other Geoscience discipline.
- Minimum 12 years experience working as an Operations Geologist within oil and gas companies.
- Experience in Operations Geology for both conventional and unconventional resources.
- Proven experience in reviewing and evaluating new ventures.
- Experience leading, supporting and training a technical team of Operations Geologists.
- Strong communication skills which includes very effective presentation and report writing skills.
- Effective team player and team leader.
- Strong project management skills.
- Experience working effectively with contractors and consultants.
- Effective at building and maintaining relationships at all levels of an organisation.
- Highly motivated and able to think outside the square.
