The Opportunity

A key expatriate role within a team of talented Geochemists. The location is high on the list of preferred locations for expats. The Role

Working as a member of the Geochemistry team and in close cooperation with other geological services and specialist teams and the production chemistry group you will carry out specialist studies in Geochemistry and provide consultancy for the company's exploration and production assets.

Within this role you will have the opportunity to apply Geochemistry to a very large and varied hydrocarbon maturation portfolio ranging from frontier exploration of unconventional oil and gas plays to mature fields mature fields under secondary or tertiary EOR schemes.

The Person

The follow skills experience and qualifications are required:

  • University degree in Geosciences or other relevant discipline. MSc, or PhD in Petroleum Geochemistry highly desirable.
  • Minimum 8 years experience in subsurface fluid evaluation within the petroleum industry.
  • Experience in geochemistry sampling methodologies, mud gas logging techniques and hydrocarbon fingerprinting techniques for exploration and production wells.
  • Skilled in geochemical analytical and interpretation methods, and the ability to integrate with other available subsurface data both at regional/basin and reservoir scale.
  • Good understanding of source rocks, hydrocarbon maturation mechanisms and basin modelling principles.
  • Working knowledge of Middle East HC environment, stratigraphy and producing fields an advantage but not essential.
  • Good understanding of exploration and development subsurface uncertainties and business issues and drivers.
  • Able to champion new technology.
  • Innovative and able to think outside the square.
  • Able to work across projects and manage demands and expectations.
  • Good project management skills
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Effective team player
