The Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Geophysicist with expertise in Interpretation to provide support, advice and technical work for the exploration and development teams for both operated and non-operated exploration and development acreage. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Analyse, interpret and integrate geophysical data to establish and update geologic frameworks and models for the company's exploration and development assets.
  • Undertake geophysical studies of the reservoirs to evaluate proposed well locations and optimize field development plans.
  • Propose and conduct rock property modeling studies.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary reservoir study teams.
  • Develop and mentor less experienced staff.
  • Step in as the Chief Geophysicist as needed.
  • Develop strong working relationships across the geophysical group.
  • Lead workflow and review processes and contribute to well proposals/post well evaluations/interpretation projects as required
  • Manage projects to time and budget
  • Support and mentor less experienced staff.

The Person

The following skills experience and qualifications are required:

  • Degree or higher in Geophysics
  • 15+ years work experience as Geophysicist with international oil and gas operator.
  • Expertise in field and reservoir studies and able to integrate geologic, well, and geophysical data.
  • Experience in greenfield and brownfield producing fields where the integration of production data has been used to constrain maps and interpretations.
  • Experience in geophysical risk analysis for proposed well locations
  • Carbonate and clastic reservoir experience
  • Experienced in all aspects of surface seismic acquisition and processing, both 3D and VSP.
  • Effective in mentoring less experienced geoscientists.
  • Some new ventures experience is desirable.
  • Skilled in seismic attribute analysis to model rock properties, sedimentary facies and depositional architecture.
  • Skilled in depth knowledge of fault and fracture detection.
  • General understanding of the major elements of reservoir engineering.
  • Written and verbal reporting of technical studies and appropriate presentation to management, partners & Government bodies and representatives.
  • Strong leadershp and teamwork skills.
  • Experience working in a multi cultural environment.
  • Effective communicator with peers, less experienced staff, field staff, and management.
  • Team player with open and flexible approach
  • Good communicator and presenter.
  • Commercially aware
  • Willingness to travel.
