The Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Petrophysicist for an expat advisor position. The key focus of the role is to provide support and leadership in the interpretation and integration of petrophysical data for a range of technical projects including New Ventures, Exploration, Development and Production. Responsibilities will include:

  • Providing advice and support for related to petrophysical acquisition programs across the company's assets
  • Petrophysical expertise across the company's NV, exploration, development and producing assets including unconventional hydrocarbon reservoirs.
  • Identification of lithologies and pay zones in exploration wells.
  • Written and verbal reporting and appropriate presentation to management, partners and government officials.
  • Petrophysical technical support and input to reserves reporting.
  • Leadership to special core analysis with specifically aligned to oil wet reservoirs.
  • Providing expertise in calibrated petrophysically derived permeabilities.
  • Contributing to planning project budgets and managing projects to time and budget.
  • Leading workflow and review processes in petrophysics
  • Promoting best practice and sharing knowledge of new technologies.
  • Mentoring less experienced petrophysicists.

The Person

The following skills, experience and qualifications are required:

  • Degree qualification or higher in Geoscience
  • 12+ years of experience in petrophysics which includes a number of years working within an operating environment.
  • Broad technical experience in geology in both exploration and development projects.
  • Expert understanding of logging tools, core preservation and core data collection, analysis and interpretation of log data, and its integration with petrophysical suites.
  • Experience of rock physics and an ability to derive numerical rock properties from a range of data types.
  • Understanding of project execution and cost implications.
  • Strong current workstation skills, including working with modern log interpretation software applications and geocellular modelling tools.
  • Experience with secondary and tertiary recovery processes.
  • Experience of mentoring and coaching less experienced technical professionals.
  • Effective as both a team player and team leader.
  • Good communicator and presenter.
  • Commercially aware.
  • Willingness to travel internationally as required.
