Our client is an established oil and gas exploration and production company that offers the opportunity to work in a very pleasant location and within a supportive work environment.
The Opportunity
Our client has multiple openings at staff and senior level for experienced, technically strong Production Geophysicists. A key aspect of these roles will be to carry out detailed geophysical studies and incorporate relevant aspects of other disciplines, in order to support field development activities for the purpose of maximizing hydrocarbon recovery
Responsibilities may include:
- Reservoir Management & Studies
- Undertake seismic interpretation studies to high technical standards and incorporate relevant aspects of other disciplines.
- Construct, together with the production geologist, geological models for optimization of field development planning.
- Identify areas where the acquisition of additional seismic would be an economic method of reducing geological uncertainties and design appropriate acquisition programmes.
- Identify PE appraisal prospects within the field boundaries using seismic.
- Liaise with the exploration group and ensure delivery of quality products i.e. processed seismic data, VSP displays, well synthetic seismograms and geophysical models.
- Prepare comprehensive documentation and presentations.
- Mentor less experienced staff
The Person
- University degree in Geology or Geophysics.
- Minimum 8 years experience in seismic interpretation in Gas/Oil Production environment.
- Technically strong geophysicist with good all-round knowledge of other PE disciplines with skills required in: Trace interpretation, Structural Framework Interpretation, Velocity Modelling and Quantitative Interpretation.
- Experienced in reservoir characterisation; reservoir modelling; structural geology and operations geology.
- An awareness of seismic processing, EP business planning and seismic acquisition.
- Good leadership and experience working effectively in multidisciplinary teams; strong team player.
- Effective communicator, ability to coach / mentor younger staff.
